How to Use GoldMine as an Auto Responder

Our next GMUG will focus on tying 4 pieces of GoldMine together in order to make an auto responder. Some of you may be asking what is an auto responder and why should I care. Although auto responders can mean a lot of things to a lot of people on the internet, the definition that I am focusing on is giving a person the ability to sign up for something on your website and then automatically get it emailed to them with out you having to think about it or even know about it for that matter.

Here is a brief look of what we will be covering:

  1.  Web Imports: The form you fill out on the internet to request the email.
  2. Automatic Email Retrieval: How the email will get into GoldMine.
  3. Automated Processes: How GoldMine knows what to do with the email.
  4. Email Templates: What GoldMine sends them back.

The best part about it is GoldMine doesn't care if you are sending them one email or 40 over the next year. The only difference is you are repeating the same few steps 40 times. Plus GoldMine creates a record for anybody that fills out the webform and keep a complete record on their contact of all of the emails that are sent out.

This is were GoldMine out performs traditional internet based auto responders. They will give you a list of people in the system, but you have to go to their program and look it up and then try to figure out where they are in the system. In GoldMine you have to find their contact record and click on the history tab, just like you would for anything else you would do in GoldMine. I will even show you an easy way of intermixing phone calls in to the sequence, something traditional auto responders can't do.

If you are familiar with GoldMine then you will realize that these 4 topics are not the simplest in GoldMine but we are going to be keeping a very narrow focus and you will be given notes to take with you. For example with automated processes I would go into the hundreds of things you can do, but I am not I am going to cover the 3 you need to get it to send an email. By ignoring the clutter and focusing on the bare essentials, I am expecting you all to be able to do this.

I look forward to seeing you there and explaining how to take a few tools in GoldMine and make something that will save you time and make you money.
